Outdoor Facade LED Neon Flex

Weatherproof neon lines that outline building edges and contours - with IP ratings, long-run power and exterior fixing specified correctly.

Overview

Neon flex for outdoor building facades

Outdoor facade neon flex outlines the edges, windows and contours of a building with a continuous, weather-resistant line of light. It replaces fragile glass neon with a flexible silicone jacket that cuts and mounts on site. This page covers weatherproof ratings, long-run power, exterior fixing and control.

Weatherproof

IP67/IP68 silicone extrusion with sealed end caps for rain and UV exposure.

Flexible outline

Bends around corners and curves to follow the building contour.

Long runs

48V and high-voltage options cover long facade sections with fewer feeds.

Weatherproofing

IP ratings and sealing the system

The strip rating is only part of the system. Every connector, end cap and feed point must be sealed to the same standard, or water enters through the joint.

RatingProtectionFacade use
IP65Silicone coated, splash resistantCovered areas only, not open facade
IP67Fully encapsulated, temporary immersionMinimum for permanent exterior
IP68Continuous immersion ratedExposed pooling, harsh weather
Use the supplied end caps and silicone glue, and seal every feed cable entry. A strip rated IP68 still fails if an unsealed connector is added on site.
Power

Long-run power: 48V vs high voltage

Facade outlines are long, so the voltage strategy is decided before ordering. Two practical options cover most buildings.

48V DC neon

Single feed 15-20m, low-voltage safety and simple dimming. Use multiple drivers around larger buildings.

High-voltage 110/220V

Very long runs from one feed with fewer drivers. Requires qualified installation and weatherproof AC connections.

Installation

Exterior mounting and control

1

Plan the route

Map edges, corners and feed points, and calculate total wattage per section.

2

Fix tracks

Screw aluminum tracks or stainless clips every 20-30cm; seal the holes.

3

Lay and seal

Press the neon into the track, glue end caps, seal feed points and leave expansion gaps.

4

Wire control

Connect drivers and DMX/addressable controllers, then test scenes and schedules.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Use IP67 minimum for permanent exterior installation, IP68 where the strip is exposed to direct rain pooling or temporary immersion. IP65 is splash resistant only and is not enough for an uncovered facade. Verify the rating on the product datasheet and ensure end caps and connectors are sealed to the same rating.
Use 48V neon flex for single-feed runs of 15-20 meters, or high-voltage (110V/220V) neon for very long runs with a single feed and fewer drivers. Plan injection or repeat feeds at each facade section. Calculate total wattage and keep every driver under 80% of rated load.
Use aluminum mounting tracks or stainless clips screwed into the wall, spaced every 20-30cm (closer on vertical runs). Do not rely on adhesive alone outdoors. Seal screw holes and use the manufacturer's end caps and glue. Expansion gaps are needed in hot climates because the silicone jacket moves with temperature.
Quality silicone neon flex is rated for roughly -25C to +60C operating temperature. Silicone stays flexible in cold; PVC jackets can harden and crack. In desert climates, check the upper temperature rating and UV resistance, and allow expansion gaps so the strip does not buckle.
Yes. RGB and RGBW neon with DMX512 or addressable controllers support static colors, scenes and scheduled changes across a building. For simple single-color outlines, a basic switched or dimmable driver is enough. Specify the control protocol before wiring so the correct controller and power layout are used.
