WS2812B fails black-out: one dead pixel kills the rest. WS2815 has dual-signal wiring so one dead pixel does not stop the strip. Pay the extra 20% for WS2815.

The Black-Out Problem
WS2812B uses a single data line. If one pixel dies, all pixels after it go dark. This is the black-out problem. WS2815 adds a second data line so the signal continues past dead pixels.
| Feature | WS2812B | WS2815 |
|---|---|---|
| Voltage | 5V | 12V |
| Black-out | Yes (one dead kills all) | No (dual signal) |
| Max run | 5m (5V drop) | 10m+ |
| Cost/m | Baseline | +20% |
