A 220V high-voltage SCOB LED strip runs directly from mains power with no driver and holds even brightness for 50–100 meters, fully sealed. It is the lowest-cost, simplest solution for long sign faces, channel letters and building outlines — installed by a licensed electrician with RCD protection.
Why a 220V SCOB Strip for Signs?
A sign face or building outline that runs 30–100 m is painful to light with 24 V: drivers, power injection and voltage drop multiply at every meter. A 220 V high-voltage SCOB strip removes most of that complexity. It connects to mains AC through a factory lead with an integrated rectifier, runs a single reel for 50 m (up to 100 m qualified) with almost no voltage loss, and arrives fully sealed to IP65/IP67 in the milky silicone SCOB body.
Compared with a 220 V SMD or flat COB high-voltage strip, SCOB adds built-in diffusion: the sign face lights up evenly with no visible LED points, which is exactly what channel letters and light boxes need.

Wiring and Safety Rules
Because the strip carries mains voltage, treat it as fixed wiring:
- Install by a licensed electrician, protected by an RCD / GFCI breaker.
- Do not exceed the rated reel length; use several independent feeds for longer facades.
- Seal every cut end, corner and lead with the manufacturer’s IP67 end caps and connectors — a single gap is both a shock path and a corrosion failure.
- Choose no-flicker / constant-current models for signage viewed up close or on camera.
- For dimmable or tunable scenes, 24 V SCOB/COB with a PWM driver remains more flexible; high-voltage AC dimming is limited to TRIAC/0-10V.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long can a 220V SCOB strip run from one feed?
Most 220 V SCOB reels are rated for 50 m per power lead; qualified high-density models can run up to 100 m continuously. Beyond that, use separate feeds from a weatherproof junction box — never chain reels beyond the rated length.
Does 220V SCOB need a transformer?
No. It uses a factory power lead with a built-in rectifier that converts AC to the DC the chips need, connecting directly to mains. A qualified electrician still must make the connection with RCD/GFCI protection and sealed outdoor connectors.
Is it flicker-free?
Standard cheap high-voltage strips can show 100/120 Hz flicker. Specify the no-flicker / constant-current version for signage viewed up close, video or camera projects — like ART-SCOB08-280-220.
Can I cut it to length?
Only at the factory-marked cut points, using the matching IP-rated end caps and connectors. Do not cut arbitrarily; cut length and joining must follow the datasheet to keep the IP rating and the distributed current design working.
